The Ice Demons rallied late in yesterday's home opener to tie the Pugs, 5-5, thanks for to some hard work by the new acquisitions, in particular, Greg Carder, who notched 2 goals for the Demons on the day.
The Ice Demons scored quickly against the former champs, the Pugs, but the Pugs responded equally quick, keeping the lead all the way until the latter part of the 3rd period, when Carder beat Pugs goalie Scott Gola for the 2nd time, ensuring the tie for the Demons.
Also scoring were Zimmerman, Snyder, and Sanford (?).
"Bip" provided spectacular goaltending (as usual), keeping the Ice Demons in the game.
Babcock had 2 interference penalties which resulted in PPGs for the Pugs. The rules have changed to be that of the NHL now, and it'll take some time to learn what we CAN'T do that we got away with in former seasons.
Players to watch out for on the Pugs: Hoffman (always a threat on the ice, able to take charge on any shift), and a new guy named Weiler (?) who is a great skater. On a trivial note, Dan Hill is once again skating in the MDL for the Pugs.
Scratches for the Ice Demons were Roger Johnson and Justin Strouphauer. The Ice Demons are possibly still looking to acquire another player, so if you know of any, email us at icedemons@mbsoftwaresolutions.com!
Next week's 2:30pm game versus the Pythons will not be shown on Comcast, as previously expected. Good seats are still available. Call the box office for tickets.
