Ice Demons fall short and give Bears first win of season
Well, we fell short 6-5. We had a very short bench, and the Bears took good advantage of that. I wish I had a dollar for every dump into the zone, making us defensemen even more tired than we already were. We really are hurting for offense with Roger Johnson backing out on us for this season.
The refs sucked, but that wasn't the reason for our loss. We were short staffed, and the Bears had bazillion players. I mean, when I went through the line at the end of the game, I couldn't believe the number of players...I thought I was shaking the hands of TWO teams. Wow. I'm sure they weren't too tired at the end of the game. Not sure how many shots we had on Garner, but it seemed like they were on the attack most of the game.
Zimmy, Carder, Friewald, somebody (Doc?) and I scored. It was close at the end, and we almost tied it up, but we just ran out of steam.
I gotta give the Bears credit though--they picked up a nice draft pick this year. Don't know his name but he's a very good player....should be a 5, and they deserve it after the years they've had these past few. And when you're rolling 4 lines, your 2 and 3 rated players skate right around 4-rated players who are exhausted. Kudos to the Bears for their first win.
Bip injured his knee in the 2nd, and we're hoping he heals quickly.
Scratches tonight were Weaber (injury--out 6 weeks), O'Neill, Sanford, Dancona, and Strouphauer.
If I misspelled anything, you'll have to forgive me....I'm onto my next beer, so I plead drunkenness. ;-)
